Dreary Monday

Hey gang,

How was your weekend?

Our Handy Boy spent his weekend doing some much needed repairs in the lovely weather.

"Wusty is fixin' da well."

While the Wee One spent an inordinately large amount of time pushing around a toy car and laughing maniacally.

He's  a weird little dude, this one.

I required a trip to the doctor to ease a hacking cough.

If I could add a little super-hero cape
to this cough syrup, I would.

And then, with my hacking cough under a wee bit more control, I did something brave. I can't believe I did it, but I did.

Really, Melissa?  Yep.

Now, I wait a few days to see if I passed the exam, and if I did I get to (gulp) start student teaching and preparing to lead my own class.

What was one brave thing that you did? Or attempted to do, despite being nervous? I'd love to know I'm not alone in this category.

Friday Moments

Friday moments with Soule Mama again today.

If you have a moment (or several) to share, please leave a comment with a link!

This week we said hello and goodbye to the last big snowfall of the year. (It can't possibly snow again, can it?)

The view from the playroom back door.
See the new floor?!

We were as impatient for the snow to melt, as we are for popcorn to pop.

I.e. not very.

Some of us boycotted clothing.

"Get dressed, Bud?"
"No!"

While some of us had our first experience of falling in love.

Where he goes, they go.

And once the snow had cleared, we got started on a little yard work.

"Lawn-mow-ah"

I hope your week had a few good moments as well. What are you up to this weekend?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Right now

Inspired, as always, by Amanda over at SouleMama. Although there are lots of inspiring mamas out there. Like this one or that one.

Right now I am ...

basking in any ray of sunshine that shows up in my yard. The wind may still be cold, but the sun is warm on my perpetually upturned face.

The sun shining on golden baby hair.

finished taping off the trim in the basement - we're ready to paint! Some more.

wishing the Wee One had never learned the word, "Uppa." Oh my aching back.

"Uppa!"

devouring another embarrassing piece of literature in public thanks to my embarrassing-book-camoflage.

craving cadbury mini eggs.

daydreaming about hiding treasure-laden eggs in the yard, baking sweet-glazey-ham, and leaving glittery cotton balls (easter bunny poop) everywhere. Soon.

relishing the oh-so-brief moments of brotherly peace.

"Moo!"

impatiently waiting for news from a beloved laboring friend. Welcome to the world lovely girl.

What are you up to this moment? I'd love to hear.

We'll take it

Apparently all my complaining worked, because we had a wee taste of warmer weather today. It was rainy and windy but way above freezing, and we'll take what we can get.

Today we stomped around in puddles.

Without our winter coats.

Next, we introduced our favorite friends to the joy of puddles. We recently received a hand-me-down set of plastic Handy Manny tools and Felipe and Pat haven't left the Big Boy's hands since their arrival.

Poor Felipe goes into the puddle head-first.

We also introduced our pals to the joy of T-Ball.

"You go in dare, Pat, and den Fi-wee-pay will whack!"
Yikes, he's tough on his friends.

Then we frolicked about, playing in the sand, mud and the wee bit of tenacious ice that hasn't yet given in.

What do you mean this isn't frolicking?
This is a total frolic.

Suddenly, the grey skies darkened and it began to pour. Mama bolted for the garage crying, "Run for cover, guys!"

The little twerps refused to join me!

"Wainin!" says the wee one, refusing to budge.

If you think I'm running out there to drag them in, you got another thing coming. This blog is called Bad Mama Moments for a reason.  Bad Mama hides in the garage till the rain stops.

Spring, dammit.

I hereby declare that it is officially spring. Even if I have to take it by force.

No more snow. No  more colds. No more sleet, freezing rain or ice.

No more scraping car windows. No more wrestling children into snow boots.

I will tolerate hats and mittens for a little while, but not for too long, Spring, do you hear me?

We've already made our first few trips to the local playgrounds - lingering snow be damned.

Umm, Mama? There's still snow here.
It's Spring! Go play.

So, off they toddled to explore the familiar landscape with bodies and abilities that are far different than they were last fall.

As always, one right behind the other.

I sit back and watch the Big Boy contemplate trying new things.

Will he climb up this year?

Stretching the limits of his blossoming imagination.

"It's not da dawk cave."
No honey, it's not a dark cave, go ahead.

Some things, though, some things never change.

The Big Boy still loves his digger best of all.

And the Wee One? He "likes" the see-saw, in the way that only a nearly-two-year-old can.
Him: "Git on?"
Me: "You want to get on, Bud?"
Him: "No!"
Me: "Ok."
Him (exasperated): "GIT ON!"

"You like the see-saw, Bud?"
"No!"

I know sunshiny, sixty degree days are coming. They have to be. I just wish they'd hurry it up a bit!

Monday

Good Monday morning.

How's it going?

Riddle me this, mamas: Did your children get gastro-intestinal disturbances while teething? Mine sure do. I'll spare you the details but - yuck. Uncle, molars. Uncle.

In non-poop-related-news, when I sat down tonight to download the weekend's pictures from my camera, I discovered a bizarre sequence of photos, consisting entirely of the underside of a lamp.

Umm, Hubs? Why were you taking photos of the lamp?

The true culprit became clear as I scrolled through the seemingly endless run of lamp-photos.

That, my friends, is the top of the Wee One's head.
The little bugger snatched and used my camera!

Evil genius?

Perhaps.

In other news, we played in the snow for what will hopefully be the last time for a while (please, God).

Snow on Opening day?
No wonder the Sox lost all weekend.

Sadly, the April-Fool's nor'easter prevented my beloved contractor from finishing up in the basement so no new photos yet - he's coming tomorrow though, so an update is coming soon!

What did you do this weekend?

Friday Moments

Friday moments with Soule Mama again today - if you have a moment or two to share, please leave a comment with a link!

I mentioned earlier this week that the Big Boy is developing some crazy fears, but in the ying-yang way of childhood - he's also starting to show some imagination.

Playing with him is really, really fun and when he gives voice to a little plastic person or animal - it just makes this mama's heart skip a little beat or two. So stinkin' cute.

Oh that dimple.

Though, not every moment is blissfully cute and playful. There are certainly messes to be cleaned up.

Oatmeal mess. A daily occurrence.

And messes of the more extreme variety.

Poop. On. The. Carpet.

But then there's that ying-yang thing again and crazy-baby-bedhead almost makes me forget the poop on the carpet. Almost.

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

Hope you have some good plans for the weekend? We'll probably be painting again - I hope to bring you playroom-nearly-complete photos very soon!

Thanks for stopping by today - Happy Friday!
